Privacy Policy for Vanguard Field

Vanguard Field ("we", "our", or "us") is a field-work record-keeping app published by Smarty Bytes Innovation for individual HVAC, electrical, and plumbing contractors. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app accesses, how that information is handled, and your choices. It applies to Vanguard Field on iOS and Android (bundle ID com.smartybytes.vanguardfield).

Where your data lives

Vanguard Field has no account system and no backend for field records. Jobs, clients, quotes, photos, labour time entries, maintenance schedules, incidents, signatures, and related records are stored locally on your device. Smarty Bytes Innovation does not operate a server that receives these records and cannot view or recover them.

Because the data is local, you are responsible for protecting your device and preserving any records you need. Deleting the app or clearing its storage may permanently remove those records.

Information stored on your device

The information you choose to enter or capture may include:

• Job, client, site, quote, and address details
• Notes, labour time entries, maintenance schedules, van-audit details, and incident records
• Signatures and photos used as job or incident evidence
• Generated PDF reports, report-branding preferences, and other app settings

This information remains in the app's local device storage unless you explicitly export or share it.

Location information

Vanguard Field requests foreground, "when in use" location access. The app reads location at two moments: when you tap Start Job and when you log an incident. It does not request background location, track your movement, or build a location history.

You can enter an address instead of using your current location. Typed addresses are geocoded by your device's operating system, including Apple location services on iOS.

Camera and photo library

The app requests camera and photo-library access only when you choose to add job or incident evidence. Photos you take or select are stored with the related local record and are not uploaded to a Smarty Bytes Innovation server.

Subscriptions, Apple, and RevenueCat

Vanguard Field offers optional Vanguard Pro monthly and annual subscriptions. Canadian base prices are CAD $3.99 per month and CAD $39.99 per year, with Apple-calculated local equivalents. Eligible new subscribers receive one month free, once per subscription group; the trial cannot be claimed on both plans.

On iOS, Apple processes App Store payments. Smarty Bytes Innovation does not receive your payment-card details, billing address, or Apple ID credentials.

RevenueCat manages subscription entitlements. It receives an anonymous subscriber identifier and information about purchase and renewal status needed to determine whether Pro features are available. RevenueCat does not receive your field records.

How information is used

Information is processed to provide the features you choose to use, including:

• Creating and maintaining local jobs, clients, quotes, labour records, audits, incidents, signatures, and maintenance schedules
• Recording the location of a job start or incident when you grant permission
• Attaching photos as job or incident evidence
• Generating, branding, exporting, and sharing PDF reports
• Checking subscription status and enabling Vanguard Pro features

Sharing and disclosures

Vanguard Field does not include an analytics SDK, advertising SDK, IDFA access, an App Tracking Transparency prompt, or cross-app tracking. It has no social feed, chat, user-to-user sharing service, or public user-created content. We do not sell personal information.

Information may leave the app only in limited circumstances:

• Apple location services or the corresponding operating-system service may process a location or typed address when you use those features.
• Apple and RevenueCat process the limited payment and subscription information described above.
• When you explicitly export or share a PDF through the system share sheet, the report is sent to the person, app, or service you select.
• Information may be disclosed if required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, or security.

Any person, app, or service you select through the system share sheet handles the shared report under its own privacy practices.

Data retention and deletion

Local records remain on your device until you delete them using controls available in the app, clear the app's storage through device settings, or uninstall the app. Reports exported outside the app must be deleted separately from the location or service where you saved or shared them.

Apple and RevenueCat may retain subscription-related information according to their own practices. For a request concerning information handled by Smarty Bytes Innovation or its service providers, email support@smartybytes.ca. We will review the request and assist where reasonably able.

Security

Protecting access to your device and its backups helps protect locally stored field records. We use reasonable safeguards for information handled by Smarty Bytes Innovation, but no storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure. Apple, RevenueCat, and any destination you select for sharing apply their own security practices.

Children's privacy

Vanguard Field is intended for professional users and is not directed to children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy if Vanguard Field's features or data practices change. The current version will be posted at this URL with a revised effective date.
