Mobile app privacy notice
This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the Vanguard Field Android app, provided by Smarty Bytes Innovation.
Vanguard Field is a professional field-work app for planning jobs, recording site observations and incidents, capturing notes, signatures, and optional photos, viewing job locations on a map, and generating and sharing PDF reports.
The app does not require an account, sign-in, username, password, or OAuth connection.
Information you enter or capture for jobs is stored locally using your device's app storage. This may include:
Smarty Bytes does not operate a backend that receives this field-record data.
Vanguard Field requests foreground location access only when you explicitly use a location verification feature, such as starting a job or recording an incident. The app does not perform background location tracking.
You can enter an address instead of granting location access. Location details saved with a job or incident become part of the locally stored field record.
Vanguard Field uses Google Maps to display job locations. When a map is loaded or used, the Google Maps SDK may process map request metadata, device metadata, your IP address, a Maps SDK identifier, map-interaction data, and crash or performance information in accordance with Google's privacy practices.

Vanguard Field offers optional Vanguard Field Pro subscriptions through Google Play Billing. Google Play handles payment-card details; Smarty Bytes does not receive those card details.
RevenueCat validates purchases and manages Pro subscription entitlement status. To provide that access, RevenueCat processes purchase history and subscription or transaction-related identifiers. Google Play and RevenueCat handle this information under their own privacy practices.

Vanguard Field has no advertising SDK, ad targeting, social feed, chat, user-to-user sharing service, or user-created public content. Smarty Bytes does not sell personal information.
Information may be disclosed only in these circumstances:
A recipient you select through the system share sheet handles the report under its own privacy practices.
Locally stored field records remain on your device until you remove them through the app's reset or clear controls where available, clear the app's storage in device settings, or uninstall the app. Reports exported outside the app must be deleted from their saved or shared destinations separately.
Google Play and RevenueCat may retain subscription-related information according to their own practices. For a request concerning information handled by Smarty Bytes or its service providers, email support@smartybytes.ca. We will review the request and assist where reasonably able.
Field records are kept in the app's local device storage, so protecting access to your device and its backups helps protect that information. We use reasonable safeguards for information handled by Smarty Bytes, but no storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure. Google Maps, Google Play, RevenueCat, and any share-sheet destination apply their own security practices.
Vanguard Field is intended for professional users and is not directed to children.
We may update this Privacy Policy if Vanguard Field's features or data practices change. The current version will be posted at this policy URL with a revised effective or last-updated date.
