Privacy Policy for Settl

Settl ("we", "our", or "us") is a parenting support app published by Smarty Bytes Innovation Inc. This policy explains what we process, why, and what choices you have. It covers the Settl mobile app on the Apple App Store and Google Play.

The short version

Settl has no accounts and no sign-up. We never ask for your name, email, or your child's name. To generate a script we send what you type to our server and to the AI services described below. Your saved scripts stay on your phone.

What you type, and where it goes

When you describe a situation, that text — plus the age range you selected — is sent over an encrypted connection to our Google Cloud backend, which:

• converts the text into a numerical search vector using Google Cloud Vertex AI, so we can find relevant guidance in our own curated child-development reference material;
• sends the text and that guidance to a large language model via OpenRouter, which generates the words-to-say and next-step shown on screen.

Please do not include names, addresses, or other identifying details about you or your child in what you type. Settl does not need them, and the guidance is no better with them.

How long we keep it

We do not store the text of your requests in our database. It is processed to generate your script and then discarded.

The text of a request may appear in our server logs for up to 30 days, for reliability and abuse prevention, after which it is automatically deleted. Log entries are associated only with the anonymous ID described below — never with a name, email, or contact detail. Our AI providers process request text under their own terms as our service providers.

When the app detects a possible crisis and shows support resources instead of a script, we record only the time, the category, and a severity level. The text you typed is not recorded in that case.

The anonymous ID

On first launch the app creates an anonymous Firebase Authentication ID — a random identifier. It is not linked to your Apple ID, Google account, email, or any personal detail, and it is never shared with advertisers.

In Cloud Firestore we store exactly three things against that ID: how many scripts you have generated, when that count was last updated, and whether you have an active subscription. This is how we apply the 20 free scripts before a subscription is required. No text you type is stored there.

What stays on your device

Saved scripts, your selected age range, and app preferences are stored locally on your phone using app storage. They are not uploaded to us. Deleting the app removes them.

Subscriptions

Settl Pro is an auto-renewable monthly subscription with a free trial. Payment is handled by Apple (App Store in-app purchase) or Google (Google Play Billing) — we never see or store your payment details. RevenueCat acts as our service provider to tell the app whether your subscription is active, using a subscription identifier, transaction metadata, purchase history, and device/app identifiers. Manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising or cross-app tracking. We share it only with the providers above, or where required by law or to protect safety and security.

What we do not collect

Precise location, contacts, call logs, SMS, photos, video, audio recordings, health records, or advertising identifiers. Settl requests no sensitive device permissions.

Where Settl is available

Settl is offered in the United States and Canada. The crisis guidance in the app refers to 988, the suicide and crisis lifeline serving both countries.

Not medical advice

Settl provides general parenting guidance. It is not medical, mental-health, or emergency advice. In a crisis, contact your doctor or local emergency services, or call or text 988.

Children

Settl is designed for parents and caregivers. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices

Because there is no account, your local data is under your direct control — clear it by deleting the app or clearing its storage. For any request relating to your anonymous ID or your subscription records, contact us and we will help.

Changes

We may update this policy. The current version is always at this URL with a revised effective date.
